Ministerial Intervention Application
Visa & Citizenship Lawyers were contacted by A Current Affair to comment on the circumstances of a woman, who moved to Australia 15 years ago and shortly afterwards had a child who is now an Australian citizen.
Due to a chain of events, the woman is now holding a bridging visa which expires in a few days, at which time she will become an unlawful non-citizen liable to be put in immigration detention and removed from Australia, separated from her Australian citizen daughter who requires daily medical support.
The woman’s pathway to permanent residency is complex as she has previously been granted a visa through Ministerial Intervention.
